Beautiful Clarissa! A few lines from one of my songs hints at the medicine, the drink of cool water in the desert, that you have so lovingly offered us: .........so thank the Goddess for Clarissa what a blessing indeed like a sweet mango fot the soul and a sharp sword for the spirit and a hearty laugh at the end of it all.............. This book is the bible. |

I read this tome of wisdom one chapter a month. I tend to be a speed reader, but the depth of this book in wisdom slowed me down to sentence by sentence, story by story and the wisdom howled. The collection of STORIES Clarissa uses makes the book worthy of the time it will require to digest it, and it will take time -- even if you read it in a few sittings (I find that scenario difficult to imagine, however). Why do I love this book, why do I continue to read it, over and over, chapter by chapter? THE STORIES are why I read again. The woman who gathers bones in the desert, gathering her deepest nature; the young daughter who marries the wife-murdering Bluebeard; the sea-creature-woman (seal-skin/soul-skin) who gives up her lovely soul-flesh to marry an earth-bound, have children, and, at last, answer the call of the ocean kingdom to regain her soul-life. Taste this book. I still count it in my 'top ten' years and many books later. |

I came across this book at a discount book store. I was simply browsing when my eyes were drawn to the title. It kind of jumped out and said "READ ME!!!!" That alone was enough for me to purchase it. I've read and re-read the introduction several times before I even went to any of the "tales". Very inspiring and motivating. I highly recommend owning a copy. I even took my copy cross country with me this past summer! I've found reading this book helps me to stay focused when I feel strong and it helps to re-focus when I'm kind of "off" a little. No one ever recommended this book to me but since I've been reading it I'm discovering that it is rather popular. |

Just the title created energy in me I had forgotten I possessed. Every story is a wonderful exploration of a piece of life. some stories resonated way more for me than others. Especialy the one dealing with anger. I felt I had taken a huge leap in understanding and will never return back to the old space. It is a must read. You don't need to read it in any order. Just pick a story that seem s to fit with an issue you are dealing with in your life. Every line has something inspiring. | |
