Synopsis:
Anatomy of the Spirit shows the links between emotional and spiritual stresses
and specific illnesses in the context of the anatomy of the human energy
system. Dr. Myss's system of energy medicine will teach you the specific
emotional, psychological, and physical factors that lie at the root of illness.
For example, fears regarding financial matters affect the health of the
lower back; emotional barriers to experiencing love undermine the health
of the heart; a strong need to control others or your environment influences
the health of the sexual areas of the body. Anatomy of the Spirit also presents
Dr. Myss's long-awaited model of the body's seven centers of spiritual and
physical power, in which she synthesizes the ancient wisdom of three spiritual
traditions - the Hindu chakras, the Christian sacraments, and the Kabbalah's
Tree of Life. With this model, Dr. Myss shows how you can develop your own
latent powers of intuition as you simultaneously develop your personal power
and spiritual maturity. As you begin to understand the anatomy of your spirit,
you will discover the spiritual causes of illness, as well as how to sense
and correct an energy imbalance before it expresses itself as physical illness,
and how to recover emotionally and physically from an illness you may already
have. By learning to see your body and spirit in a new way that draws on
old truths, you can begin to develop a spiritual maturity and authority
that will change your life.

A Reader from Canada , 09/07/97,
A journey into healing your life, health, spirit & your mind.
Ph.D. Caroline Myss doesn't only have the uncanny ability to intuitively
see illness and it's origins but the skill to pass on her wisdom to readers.
She will inspire alternative ways of thinking that will promote changes
in you, your health, as well as your inner and outer world. Her excellent
examples of healing and failing to make that choice will inspire you. She
will educate you into the concept of chakras and energy in a way that grounds
them in sensible and understanding manner. The most secure part of her message
is that it is for you. She is intelligent, inspirational and sincere. Caroline
Myss can change your life if you choose to read her fascinating work with
an open mind and practice what you learn.
A.M., 07/04/97, Total bunk
I have listened to the Minnesotan-sounding voice of this so-called "Medical
Intuitive", and she claims to be able to, over the telephone and hearing
only your name, and date of birth, be able to diagnose your Medical problems.
Yes, just like the 'ol psychic line. I am sure she's a nice person, and
believes in what she states, but I think she is borderline psychotic, or
an atheist mystic, if she continues to claim her unsupported abilities.
Let us see her tested, at Harvard, etc., and then we'll know whether she
is "talented" as a medical psychic. I was very disappointed after
buying her tapes based on the jacket story.
B.T., 05/14/97, The clearest exposition
of spiritual energy distribution!
Anatomy of the Spirit is the ONLY book I have seen that truly ties spirit,
mind, and body together. It explains, in rational terms, how we receive
spiritual energy, how that energy supports our body, and how we suffer physical
illness when our mind dissapates that energy through needless worry. As
a text for learning the specifics of spiritual energy distribution, this
book is superb. In diagrams, charts, and straight-forward discussions, Myss
changes vague ideas about energy flow into specifics, complete with examples.
Her descriptions of the consequences of energy mismanagement leave no room
for misinterpretation. The benefits of calling back our negative energy
losses are crystal clear, thanks to her insightful presentation. For anyone
serious about learning how to use their spiritual energy this is the text
to study.
A.S., 04/11/97, The physical is only
but a glimpse of a much bigger picture.
Anatomy of the Spirit is the missing link between the physical plane and
the higher levels. People have often wondered why people afflicted with
the same physical health problems, where treated the same and the outcome
was so different. Finally holistic care has come of age and it is books
like this that show exactly where these connections are and how they can
be addressed. A joyful thanks to Dr. Myss for showing us that addressing
the non tangible part of our being we can heal the tangible or physical
body.
D.S. , 01/29/97, Life-changing
Caroline Myss has woven together the mind, body, spirit paradigm in such
a clear and careful way that you find yourself thinking "I get it.
I can do that" instead of "huh, I guess I am meant to meditate
on that" as so frequently happens with text dealing with seemingly
esoteric topics
D. , 10/30/96, A must read for the sick,
sick at heart and spiritual seekers.
Myss weaves an elegant tapestry representing health and power using the
ancient threads of Christian sacraments, the ten Judaic Sefirot, and the
seven Vedic chakras, with accents from Buddhism and Jungian archetypal psychology.
The three wisdom traditions are so deftly blended that the result seems,
in the words of my first calculus teacher, "intuitively obvious."
Myss calmly encourages victims of wars, incest, financial reversals or any
common or bizarre trauma to stop talking "woundology." Instead,
she encourages all of us to plug into beliefs and activities that strengthen
and free us. She synthesizes seven univeral truths, requiring ten skills
or character traits: spirituality, wisdom, understanding, mercy, judgment,
beauty, majesty, endurance, stability, and creativity. Consummate storytelling
with a wise, detached sense of humor and wonder draw the reader closer and
closer to her message. This is a must read for spiritual seekers, the self-help
set, and the sick at heart. Those who have chronic or acute illnesses will
appreciate how she connects chakra (spiritual development) issues with body
organs, emotional issues and physiological dysfunctions. Those who think
they've heard it all, still need to read and wonder. The open mind has more
to offer than we've ever dreamed.
