The Diary of Anne Frank explains in detail what it's like to be in their shoes. Anne gives complete detail of her three years in the "Secret Annexe". Her blossiming into womanhood, her anger towards her mother and her secret love for Peter VanDaan. Any girl of any age would love to read this book.
A Girl From North Carolina, 10/8/2000
I started reading it and couldnt put it don. ANY GIRL BETWEEN THE AGES OF 12 AND 17 SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!!!!
Girl Reader, 12/12/99
This book was so heart-warming and loving. It really makes you feel like you are part of the Frank family. This book describes what it's like to be a teen in trouble like nothing you and I are used to. The theme itself is extremely harsh but the ending is sadder. But it still is an extraodinary book that any teen should read.
Colombian Girl, 4/7/99
It is a very touching book, it made me think in lots of things that a lot of people from my country are passing by right now, and even though there is a big difference betwee WW 2 and a Civil war, I now a lot of refugees and people who may be hiding have to pass thorugh very similar situations even in a different social context.
A reader, 3/15/99 WE CAN NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!!!
The story of a young jewish girl growing up in the most horrific time in history.
This book will always and should always be a part of
history teachings for the young and the old. If we keep Anne Franks
memories alive we're helping to ensure that this type of crime
against humanity will never take place again.

I have yet to read such a touching and heart breaking story. The book keeps the reader completely absorbed and makes one feel a part of it. The thoughts in the diary are extremely mature as well as innocent , and describe the true feelings of a girl during her transition into the teens.

I tried to read this when i was 10. I couldn't finish it because it
was to long. I didn't attempt to read it at age 11. Then when I was
12, I picked it back up again. I couldn't put it down. The reason
It's so tragic is because she lived her life for such a short time. I
can relate to anne. This is a sad story. Even though I knew how it
would end before I finished it, It was sadder than I thought it would
be. MUST READ IN CONCLUSION

I started to get interested in the Halocaust shortly after reading
about it in Social Studies. I asked friends for a good book dealing
with a girls life during the Halocaust. Thats when I heard about Anne
Frank! At first it was really hard to get into, but after a while I
started to relate to the feelings and emotions that Anne went through
while growing up! Before long I was laughing, and crying with Anne! I
absolutely LOVED this book, and I cant think of another book that
affected my life more! I'd read it all over again! I'd also recommend
Anne Frank:Beyond The Diary, because it actually shows you some of
the places that Anne talks about in Kitty. (Her diary). :)

The horrors, thrills, and sadness of being Jewish during this time. A
young girl describes everything that happened to her family and the
others in hiding. Very wonderful. I'm about Anne's age when she was
alive and her story still touches my heart today, even though it was
written roughly 50 years ago.

This book starts as Anne at the age of 14. She recieves a diary for
her birthday. She names this diary Kitty. She shares her most secret
thoughts with it. During World War II the Frank's are forced to go
into hiding. They live in Anne's dad's office building. They have the
door hidden as a bookself. They reffer to this hidding place as the
"secret annex". They have other people living with them. As she spend
more and more time sitting by herself she spends less and less time
living her live. She begins to have feelings for Peter Van Daan. He
is living in the annex with them. They talk, share sercets, and
regrets. As the end of the war gets nearer, they are forced not to
move, breathe or go to the bathroom so they don't get caught. Someone
told the officals of Germany that their were people hidding in the
"secret annex". The officals find them and take them to camps. All
the people in the Franks family die, but Otto (her dad) lives. When
Otto goes back to the annex to gather his belongings that are their,
he stumbles upon Anne's dairy. He decides to publish only peices of
it. About 30 years later he is persuded to publish the whole thing. I
think this book was very interesting, sad, and it makes you think.
When Anne tells us what her culture had to go through it makes us
think, what if that happens again. If that were to happen again it
would show that the wolrd has learned nothing from the Jews and
Hitler. Hitler killed many jews. This book and other books published
about the Holocuast. This is my opinion on the book Anne Frank the
diary of a young girl.

Anne Frank was about a Jewish family who was forced to leave their home during World War II so that they would not be put into hidding. The book was about a girl who wrote about her problems while she and her family had to live in an old attic with another family and two other people. During this time Anne grew older and started to mature. This caused many diffrent problems such as Anne fighting with her mother, Anne fighting with Mrs. VanDaan, and finally it caused Anne to fall in love with Peter VanDaan. Anne and Peter would go up into a loft every day and would sit and talk about the problems in their life and about each other. Finally Anne, her family, the VanDaan's, and the two others who were hidding were caught and were taken to diffrent camps. Sadly Anne, her mother, her sister, and the VanDaan's died. I liked this book because it should how it was to live during World War II.

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl is an Autobiography of a young
girl who tells of the time during the Holocaust. Anne writes in a
diary that she calls Kitty. She tells of all the encounters she faces
during the time she hides from the Nazis. They must be quiet while in
their secret annexe to remain hidden. I enjoyed that this was a true
story but I thought it was long and tedious. I think people who like
history would enjoy this book. I do not think young children would
have the patience to read this book. I thought this book was OK.

Anne Frank was a very good story. It was about a young girl written
in Amsterdam. She wrote the diary in the secret anniex when they were
in hidding from the Nazis for two years. You can tell by what the
diary says she goes through hunger, fear of death, frustrations with
the family and the Van Daans. She tells her diary Kittiy her deepest
secerets. It was a very good book and I enjoyed it alot

Anne Frank is a young Jewish girl living in Amsterdam at the time of
World War II and the Holocaust. Anne and her whole family go into
hiding with the Van Daan's and Mr. Dussel. She must leave eveything
behind and can not say goodbye to any one not even her cat. They hide
in an area attached to Mr. Franks old office building which has come
to be known as The Secret Annexe. Anne was not allowed to leave the
Annexe the whole time she was there, which was very hard for her
because she loved the outdoors. She amused herself in such ways as
writing to her diary Kitty, gymnastics, and reading. Anne becomes
closer to her family, the Van Daans and Mr. Dussel. This book is
about Anne's life in hiding, disscusions that occur and her struggles
to survive. During the day she must keep quiet because if the people
that are working in the office heard them then they might be caught.
Anne also tells Kitty about the brave people that risk their lives to
save her and her family. This book deals with the will to survive
under terrible conditions.

Very dramatic and good
Anne Frank wanted to write how it was while she was in the Secret
Annexe. She expressed herselfd and her family very well. I would
reccommend this book for any ages who would like to read an
autobiography about a girl during World War 2.
A reader from Summit County,

I usually like to read books that have more educational content, but
this opne was GREAT!! It gave me a different view of the Holocaust,
one that I'd heard of, but never experienced. Through Anne Frank's
eyes I could realize the torture and pain that she went through, by
just living with hers and another family for a year and a half. It
also made me realize that Anne Frank was lucky to have hidden so
long. I feel sorry that her joys and triumphs were violently squashed
when the Nazis discovered their hidden home. It was a great bbok and
I felt that I could relate with Anne and her problems easily. READ

I think the diary of anne frank portrays a girl who had to go through
this during the best years of her life. She couldn't do anything and
yet she wasen't fifteen she was older much older and she was beyond
her time and ahead of it. She wrote so excuisitly because she had to
write of something. She couldn't share any of her feelings with
anybody in annex in the beginning of the hiding. SHe wrote in the
diary that had her soul her feelings and criticism about people and
things that she wasen't a shame of. Then she fell in love and that
lasted only a year and she never saw him again. She had so much faith
and hope and never gave up that we would get out of here. SHe never
gave up hope that one day she would be free. SHe always waited and
hoped when the war would be over things would be normal and she was
right. Her words give a meaning to the whole world. It wasen't just a
person who died it was all of them who died. She never showed it in
any way that she was in despair. She wanted to write and she did. SHe
is still with us and always. Without the help of miep gies Anne
wouldn't have been discovered because of her diary. SHe loved nature
and believed in both gods but she was both jewish and catholic.

05/12/97, A young girl who had the will to live, but didn't make it
I just recently finished reading the diary and it made me cry. You
realize how lucky we are today because all of this isn't happening to
us. The Holocaust was a tragic time where many people were killed for
no reason. Even the people who were not killed still have the
memories hanging over their heads. Anne Frank was a courageous girl
who thought for sure she was going to live through the Holocaust.
However, she did not, but still she became a famous writer even after
her death. That is the irony of the diary because in it she says she
wishes to become a famous writer one day. Anne quoted, "In spite of
everything I still believe everyone is really good at heart." This is
a must read book and I hope you will read it soon.
chani, 03/09/97, a well
written work by a very special person
I am 12 years old and in the seventh grade. So perhaps, Anne's diary
speaks to me more strongly than to someone older. As someone who
enjoys writing and expressing my thoughts through the written word, I
was taken by Anne's ability to bring me into her world, large and
small, and into her heart, mind and soul. Of course, knowing the
tragic end that will ultimately befall her, alters in some way how
one reads her. And, as I approached the end of the book, knowing that
the diary would have no ''ending'', put a very sad and melancholy
tone to my reading. In truth, it is difficult to ''review'' a book
such as this. Who am I, a young girl myself with everything I've ever
wanted in this world, to judge the writing of a girl who lived at a
time of chaos and insanity. When nothing was as it should have been.
When instead of enjoying gossiping with her girlfriends, as do I, she
was living in the constant knowledge that at any time her entry in
her diary might be her last. How very sad. And my poor skills at
writing are incapable of expressing the tragedy. So what did all this
tell you? Yes, I highly recommend this book for all ages. For all the
reasons I've sited and many more.
MMM, 01/25/97, The
AnneFrank book, reminded me,of how cruel some people are
When I read the book Anne Frank,Diary of a young girl I could feel
what she was feeling. I could also see happiness in her words,
despite the things she was going through. That to me is what I think
everyone should have, happiness in their lives despite what they are
going through. This book reminded me a lot of some books that I have
read on slavery (I am African and I read many of those types of
books.)Anne was a slave of her own country in a sad way. Along with
many of those black slave heros, Amos fortune, Rosa Parks, Martin
Luther King jr, and many more, Anne was one of the many heros that we
remember from the Extermination of the Jews.

What is written in "The Diary of Anne Frank" is an excellent example
what an idiodic fool Adolf Hitler was. To kill a girl like Anne. A
fine young girl, who wanted nothing more than to become a woman, and
was never able to become one. Between every line, you can imagine her
sitting, writing, possibling thinking that this day would be her last
in hiding. The book is well written, showing the anxiety that
dominated her through the 25 months in hiding. It would be impossible
to truly rate her book, for although it was meant to be published, it
was written in her own style, and in her own way.
A reader, 11/20/96,
I read it at school.
I am an eleventh grade student at Bishop Guilfoyle High School in
Altoon, PA. This book was not some fictional story. It was a true
recount by a young girl who was going through all the prejudice and
death. People seem to want to make us forget anything negative that
has ever happened. The terrible atrocities that occured during her
life must never happen again. If we forget they may. Anything wrong
that she may have said came out because of the difficulty in living
through WWII.
A Reader, 05/18/96, It's
not about WWII or Nazis
This is an at times uncomfortably frank (no pun intended) diary of a
girl going through adolescence. This period in people's lives is
typically emotionally charged anyway, but the social strain of living
in very close quarters with about 10 other people for long periods of
time makes it even worse.
The usual view of this book is that it's about WW II and how evil Nazis are. Some crazy neo-Nazi revisionists have even attacked the book and questioned its authenticity.
I think most people are missing the boat. Nazis hardly appear at all in the story. The diary is mostly about the relationships amoungst the unfortunate people hiding out with Anne. Most of Anne's fellow hideaways come off looking pretty bad; she naturally discusses (and criticizes) the people she's cooped up with much more than she mentions Nazis, whom she basically never sees.
The Diary of a Young Girl is a good book, but it's not a war story--it's a book about relationships and growing of age.
A Reader , 05/18/96, How do
you review a life?
How do you review a life? Anne Frank was a child becoming an adult at
the onset of the Second World War, and the diary of her life is the
diary of any bright, perceptive young girl becoming a woman, and the
diary of a Jew who died in the Nazi death camps.

Anne Frank - I enjoyed this book thoroughly...and would recommened
this to any person who enjoys historical novels. However, one reason
I did not pick 10 was because unless you enjoy world war 2 stories,
I'm not sure you would like this book. It is a very straight forward
book of a 14 year old girl. About her when she went into hiding from
the Nazis because she was Jewish. I myself like reading about world
war 2 and enjoyed this book. If I could go back in time and meet
someone it would be Anne Frank. By Clara
