Many seekers will be glad to discover teachings associated with Jesus that more openly respect the feminine as well as the masculine aspects of God, have a deep respect for nature (the Tree of Life is a central image in these teachings), and balance the individual's relationship to God, self and community. And correspondences with other mystical and spiritual traditions seem well founded.

Many will stumble over the focus on physical purity and minimally cooked vegetarian diet in this tradition, however -- even many confirmed vegetarians.

These caveats aside, there is genuine beauty and inspiration to be discovered in the IBS books.

If this is your first exploration into this material, I'd recommend the Essene Book of Days first, then Biogenic Living, before approaching the Essene Gospel.
