I can't recall reading a more touching book: nostalgic and yet also giving a strong sense of future optism. The book covers several visits to Sai Baba that Dr. Sandweiss made during the early 70's, and the author relates his, and other's, psychological transformation and witnessing of miracles. Even the Baba-skeptic will, I think, be touched simply because the book is able to bring the reader the universal themes of nostalgia, and sense of enlightenment, that Baba-devotees of that time had and undoubtedly still have. This is partly because the book was written in a more "innocent time", before the relatively recent onslaught of intense Baba-criticism and the tragedy in Prasanthi Nilayam -- events that may have permanently dampered faith in the holyman.

Samuel Sandweiss lets us experience what he experiences as he learns
about an incredible being in Southern India. His doubts, reactions,
and internal changes are incredibly touching. The book is one that I
give to anyone searching for the Truth. Reading about Sai Baba has
changed my life.
