Synopsis:
This classic work of Russian spirituality tells of an anonymous peasant's quest for the secret of prayer. The Pilgrim searches high and low to know what St. Paul meant when he said that Christians should pray always. Each new stop becomes a home for a moment for this happy wanderer who has only a knapsack and a few crusts of bread, but who finds goodness and plenty wherever he goes.

Reviews:
A reader from u.s.a. , 03/09/98, This book has it all.
This book gives the entertaining tale of a pilgrim who wanted to know how one can pray ceaslessly as the Bible says. He is led to the "Jesus Prayer." The book tells of his travels through Russia. It is very entertaining. But this book is much more than that. The latter part of the book gives a dialouge between the pilgrim, a priest and a monk. The priest and the monk tell the pilgrim, that one need only pray and nothing else. Prayer alone will help and direct a person on the right path. They then show him how to pray the Jesus Prayer. In this little book is a complete course in theology. Why? Because by prayer alone one can find all knowledge and wisdom from God. Without a doubt, this book belongs in the top five of the greatest religious books ever written. This edition of the book, gives very good instructions on how to pray the Jesus Prayer, which is an easy prayer to do.

Stephen from Tacoma, Washington , 01/21/98, This Book Is Discussed by J.D. Salinger
A helpful complement to this book is the short novel, "Franny and Zooey," written by J.D. Salinger. "The Way of a Pilgrim" is discussed and used in a very interesting way. Be open to the insights offered there, as well as a beautiful--simply beautiful--literary description of an Irish family.
