Theresa, January 12, 2000 Do buy this book--it will inspire & educate you

I bought this book quite some time ago. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for but I seemed drawn to this book. When I got the book home and it sat on my desk for sometime--looking too thick to read--I wondered why I'd spent my small amount of spare money on a book that was sitting there unread. THEN, one day, months and months later I picked up the book and began to read. My life and spirit were ready for Regina Sara's collected wisdom. I was fascinated that she formerly was a nun but continued to search for a spiritual 'fit.' I read about the women she encountered--in person and through others-- eagerly and with a desire to meet them myself!! In fact, whenever I found some free time, I wanted to hurry back to this book to read more. I also hope to reflect back on its wisdom and write in a journal about the parts that intrigued me--or that I'm still wrestling with. Do read this book. It's very much worth it. And thank you to Regina Sara Ryan!!

The author, Regina Sara Ryan , May 21, 1998 This book highlights the many faces of the Divine Feminine.
More than 15 years ago it became apparent to me that knowing myself as Woman was core to knowing the Divine as Feminine. In this book I have designated 11 qualities of the Divine Feminine, including the silence, the service, the power, the darkness, the compassion, the art, the sexuality, the "community," and explored them through stories about, interviews with, and the writing of women--from both past and present--who embody these qualities. Among the women who have guided my journey are: Sufi master Irina Tweedie; Christian monk, Mother Tessa Bielecki; Zen teacher Joan Halifax; the Beguines of medieval Europe; German healer Dina Rees, author Kathryn Hulme, and many others. I am a former Catholic nun and have studied the mysticism of women from all the world's spiritual traditions for the last twenty years. This book reflects some of my own journey as well as the great contributions that the lives and teachings of these remarkable women have been and are.

I haven't read this book yet, and actually she should be writing the review but she's not really a computer person so I thought I'd go ahead and do it. First of all she already bought about five copies for friends and family. I just bought one here on Amazon for my mother. My wife says it is the best book on feminine spirituality that she has ever read. She says that it is both inspiring and yet practical and about REAL people not just people so saintly that it is difficult to relate to them. She's been reading from it every night and I beleive it has contributed to rekindling and deepening her Passion.
