A reader, 5/18/99, What a man doctor will not tell you...
This book should be read by all women who have been told that the symptoms they are experiencing are all in their head. Dr. Northrup gives a thorough study on symptoms millions of women experience - she let's us know we are not alone. She gives us an alternative way to solve problems that most doctors would excuse with birth control pills or perscriptions that only give us side effects. Thank you Dr. Northrup for giving women such a wonderful book!!

just makes good sense.
I bought this book for myself, and for my two sisters for our birthdays
this year. After we saw Dr. Northrup in her Public Television specials,
I had to follow up and purchase the books. It's excellent - written in a
very matter-of-fact style, with lots of thought provoking information. A
great reference work, we'll refer to it again and again, I'm sure.

I was taken aback!
Parts of this book were wonderful, however, I cannot recommend it for infertile
women. I am not infertile because "deep down I know my husband is the
wrong man to get pregnant with." I am infertile because I have a diagnosed
medical condition which makes all my pregnancies ectopic. I believe in the
mind/body connection, but this is pushing it. If women miscarry because
they are ambiguous or unsure of motherhood, how does the author explain
all the emotionally distraught, pregnant teenagers who have healthy babies?
I don't think this book is a positive source of information for infertile
women.

WONDERFUL BOOK OF HEALING AND SELF LOVE
I read Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom after having a myomectomy. The most
important thing I learned is the affect of self love and self respect on
one's mental and physical health. How can you go wrong with that? I have
given this as a gift to several friends and family members with the following
suggestion: "Take from this book what works for you." Even if
you find some of the personal stories and points of view a bit "out
there", (I did) you will undoubtedly benefit from reading this book.
Every woman I know who has read this gives it a glowing review and has recommended
it to someone else. I think even the most conservative woman will find Women's
Bodies, Women's Wisdom well worth the read. I hope Dr. Northrup finds a
male audience as well.
From The WomanSource Catalog & Review: Tools
for Connecting the Community for Women; review by FGP, 02/01/97:
Through her clinical and personal experiences, Dr. Christiane Northrup came
to see that negative circumstances in our lives often manifest themselves
in our bodies as illness and pain. In Women's Bodies, she addresses
each area of women's health and explains the potential problems that can
arise, the possible treatments and the ways that each can be affected by
a woman's spiritual and emotional states. Examples from the lives of her
patients illustrate how changes in attitude and life situations can affect
a woman's health. She also gives advice on choosing a doctor, deciding on
a treatment, nourishing ourselves and healing emotional scars. Christiane
serves as an example of a doctor who has taken her conventional medical
training and expanded it to address all aspects of health.
KC, 01/09/97, Every woman deserves this book.
In my quest to heal myself and my body from years of abuse with food and diet, I found Dr. Northrup's book. It has been serendipity. Dr. Northrup's balanced approach to women's body/mind connection and her candid presentation are a blessing. I have unlocked the dis-ease of my body and begun my path to health and wholeness. I heartily recommend this book to all women, to all healers of women, and all lovers of women. You will not be disappointed, and you may find healing you didn't know you needed. Thank you, Dr. Christiane Northrup.
A Reader, 08/14/96, Women: Know your body, know yourself...
Some may choose to believe that women come from Venus, but this well-written tome, authored by an holistic MD from Maine, teaches women how to use their senses and sensitivities to become and stay healthy. Wonderful reading for women who want to know who they are and how to care for themselves.
S, 07/26/96, The mind-body connection in medicine needs to be recognized.
